Last time we said a handful of smaller items were still on the list. They're all done now. We also looked at how OurFamilyGrid talks to you, and at what stops people using the meal planner.
One morning summary instead of a stream of pings
When we looked at notifications, the garden, dinner and travel-checklist reminders made up most of what lands in the bell. Hardly any of them were ever opened. That's a problem, because a bell full of noise is easy to ignore, and then the reminders that matter (MOT, insurance, medication, appointments) get missed too.
So those three are now a single morning summary at about 8am. It only shows the lines that apply to your day:
- ๐ What's on today
- ๐๏ธ Bins going out tomorrow
- โ Tasks due today or overdue
- ๐ฝ๏ธ What's for dinner, or that nothing's planned yet (only if your household uses the meal planner)
- ๐ฟ Plants that need water
- ๐งณ Travel checklist items that are due
If there's nothing to say, you won't get one. The switches for each part are still in Profile โ Notifications. The important alerts still arrive on their own, at the time they're due. We've also cleared the old garden, dinner and checklist reminders out of everyone's bell, so it starts fresh.
Import a recipe from a link
Typing out a recipe is the main reason people don't use the meal planner. Now, in Meals โ Add Recipe, you can paste a link to a recipe page and press Import. The name, ingredients, steps, prep and cook times, servings and photo fill in for you, ready to check before you save.
It works with most recipe sites, including BBC Good Food and Jamie Oliver. A few sites block this kind of request, and you'll see a message if so. Once a recipe is in, plan it for the week and use Add to Shopping List to put every ingredient on your list.
OurFamilyGrid and OurHealthGrid now agree
- Blood pressure: readings taken on OurHealthGrid now show in OurFamilyGrid straight away, and the ones that had been missed have been copied across. Readings for a family member's profile are no longer filed under the account holder.
- Appointments keep their time when they're copied between the two, not just the date.
- Mood: the mood card on the Health page now shows what you log on OurHealthGrid, so it's no longer months out of date.
- Emergency card: the QR emergency page and the downloadable card now list your current medications and allergies from OurHealthGrid, with the right person's name on each.
The rest of the fix list
- Calendar: editing an event no longer wipes its repeat and reminder settings. Clicking any day of a multi-day event now shows it in the day panel.
- Work rota: the week starts on Monday, and the people list only ever shows your own household.
- Polls: voting closes when a poll ends. Only the person who asked, or the household owner, can close or delete a poll.
- Watchlist: episode countdowns were a day out ("Tomorrow" for something airing today). Fixed.
- Garden: the "needs watering" banner now goes away once everything's watered.
- Dashboard: the weather no longer breaks the page when the weather service is down.
- Appliances: saving without a name now just returns you to the page instead of showing an error.
Dates around the clock change
A few more places could slip a day when a date crossed into or out of British Summer Time. With the clocks going back on 25 October, we fixed them now:
- Next billing dates for subscriptions
- Your pay period on the dashboard and in Finance
- Warranty end dates
- Default dates on new transactions and savings
Adding a month to the 31st also now gives the end of the next month, rather than skipping into the one after. The "remind me before this payment" option now sets the reminder for 9am, not 8am.
Easier to read
- Light theme: some colours were chosen for the dark theme and were almost invisible on light backgrounds. That covered green and red money amounts, the dashboard's little status tags, garden alerts and buttons, fuel prices and more. They've all been darkened to read clearly.
- Chat now follows your light or dark theme, and the room name is readable in both.
- The OurGrid promo bar no longer sits on top of the notification bell when you scroll.
Privacy
- Name cards (the little pop-up when you hover over someone's name) now only show for people in your household, or people who post in the forum.
- Health records can only be added for people in your own household.
- The NHS share-code check now always needs a date of birth on record.
As always, if something doesn't behave the way you'd expect, the Support page comes straight to us.
